Title: Tutor Navigator (Grant-funded)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Tutor Navigator is a crucial role at the College, designed to enhance student success in corequisite courses. This position involves collaborating with faculty, tutors and the Learning Center Coordinator as a liaison to identify students' tutoring needs, schedule tutoring sessions, track student progress and report outcomes. The Tutor Navigator proactively contacts students, ensuring they receive the necessary support to improve their academic performance. This is a grant-funded position for one year, offering a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on student achievement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with faculty to identify specific skills and knowledge areas where students need tutoring. Proactively contact students referred by faculty to schedule tutoring sessions via email, text message or phone. Coordinate with the Learning Center Coordinator to match students with appropriate tutoring support. Maintain ongoing communication with students to ensure their tutoring needs are met.
Track and monitor student progress, maintaining detailed records of tutoring sessions. Generate regular reports on student engagement and tutoring outcomes. Utilize technology and data analysis tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of tutoring scheduling. Participate in Learning Resource Center meetings, faculty meetings and/or training sessions as required, including participating in evening and weekend events as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in an educational setting, preferably in tutoring or academic support services
Customer service experience
Experience working with diverse student populations
Familiarity with educational software and data management systems
Experience in tracking and reporting student progress
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong communication and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty and staff. Ability to organize and manage tasks and special projects. Proficient in using technology for communication and data analysis. Ability to represent the college in professional settings. Critical thinking skills. Intermediate to advanced computer skills. Record keeping and reporting skills. Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
